ABOUT THE UNIVERSITYDISTINGUISHING FEATURESGuru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University was established byan Act of Govt. of NCTof Delhi on July 28, 1998. It was conceivedas a teaching and affiliating University with explicit objective tofacilitate and promote studies, research and extension work inthe areas of professional and technical education. The Universityis included under Section 2 (f) and 12 (b) of the University GrantsCommission and has been awarded 'A' Grade by NationalAssessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore forthe period 2013-2018. It first got certified as ISO 9001 : 2000 andwas subsequently upgraded to ISO 9001 : 2008 by the STQCDirectorate, Ministry of Communication and InformationTechnology, Govt. of India. GGSIPUniversity has been conferredwith the "Golden Europe Award for Quality and CommercialPrestige" by Otherways Management & CounsultingAssociation, Paris, France on 16.07.2012 giving credence to itscommitment to quality management.In order to serve the broad purpose for which the University isestablished, it set out its statements of vision, mission andQuality Policy.The University has 11 Schools of Studies wherein as many as 42Undergraduate and Postgraduate academic programmes arebeing conducted for more than 3000 Students. On the affiliationfront, 02 Schools of Studies, namely, School of Engineering andTechnology and School of Medicine and Para Medical HealthSciences are being maintained for providing leadership role tothe programmes conducted under these Schools at affiliatedinstitutions. In all, the University has 110 affiliated institutes; ofthese, 84 are self financed and 26 are owned and managed bythe Govt. of NCT of Delhi/ Govt. of India, offering education tomore than 60,000 students.The university has highly qualified teaching faculty, mostlyhaving Ph.D. degree and an excellent track record ofprofessional progression. Keeping in view the global highereducation scenario, the curricular design has contemporaryfeatures namely semester system, modularity, choice basedcredit system, credit transfer, inter university and intra-universitymigration, interdisciplinary programmes, elective optionsthereby offering the warranted flexibility to the students.
